LAN design and implementation
Smart Internet Appliances can design your local network according to your needs and specifications. Then, we can build the designed network, integrating workstations, servers, printers, UPS's and any other required devices to provide a fully functional working environment for your business.
If your company has two or more points of presence, we can join the local networks in one big Virtual Private Network, using our SIA VPN servers.
A Local Area Network is a communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area (usually, on office or a building). The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. The "servers" hold programs and data that are shared by the clients. Servers come in a wide range of sizes from Intel-based servers to mainframes. Printers can also be connected to the network and shared (see print server).
Nowadays, the typical Local Area Network in an office environment consists of a number of workstations and servers linked together by an Ethernet network over twisted pair (UTP) cabling or by Wi-FI (wireless). Switched Ethernet is the most common Data Link Layer implementation on Local Area Networks. At the Network Layer, the Internet Protocol (IP) has become the standard.
